Radio Production

Training Programme

If you have always wanted to get involved with radio or audio but have felt daunted by not knowing how to go about it, then this training package is right for you. This programme will take you from that first step into live radio shows and the numerous activities this involves. Throughout the programme you will gain experience of hosting, audio editing, planning, social media, and producing.

What will the programme cover?

This package is made up of 5 units that run synchronously, allowing you to build experience across a wide range of areas.

Unit 1 – Planning and Researching

  • This unit will outline what each radio show requires and help you to learn the necessary steps to delivering the final product. This component of the programme also allows you to develop your skills in research, where investigation into potential and booked guests is required.

Unit 2 – Interviewing and Hosting

  • With several shows including in-depth live and pre-recorded interviews with guests, this unit examines how to ask the right questions and how an interview should be structured and carried out from beginning to end. Elements of performance and technical aspects will also be covered in this unit.

Unit 3 – Audio Editing

  • Each show has numerous recorded elements - such as interviews, adverts, and audio packages that need preparing. This unit therefore covers how to undertake delivering high quality audio and why this is necessary.

 Unit 4 – Sound Engineering

  • With some happening live, various aspects of the show need to be managed for broadcast in a live environment. This unit expands upon learning in unit 3 whilst by allowing you to develop more advanced skills in sound engineering.

Unit 5 – Filming and Social Media

  • Like many forms of media, radio isn’t just an audio form, and running alongside the shows we have social media campaigns and filmed elements used for promotion.  This hands-on and practical unit looks at the various ways in which the shows are promoted.
